#MtPinaturbo

We decided to kick off summer up north, visiting the very picturesque Mt Pinatubo in Zambales. Can I just tell you how amazed I was with the beauty that the disaster in 1991 created? I must say, I never expected that a destruction like that can be such a beautiful mess years after. Pictures would not do any justice on how beautiful the scenery is on the way to the trail of Mt Pinatubo’s crater.

Ticking off the bucketlist: 4×4 Ride up top!

*Adventure Time faces*

The kids were also just there playing around the lahar or the streams, waving hello and smiling to the tourists who pass by their very big playground!

After almost an hour or two of 4×4 goodness, you can decide whether to take the long trail or the short trail. In our case, we went for the short trail to save some time.

I am forever grateful for His provision that allows me to witness how great His creations are. That moment we saw the view of the crater, we cannot help but say, sobrang ganda ng Pilipinas!

I am happy that I am blessed with friends who are always game to try new things. And I am more than happy to see how we are maturing; from late night drinking sessions to 3am bus rides and hours of travel to be one with nature! NAKS.

For our last stop on this trip, we tried go karting in Tarlac!

This trip has definitely been a good break from a monotonous city life!

To more trips like this!

SSS

It has been days since I have been playing Sam Smith’s songs over and over again, hence the ‘Sam Smith Syndrome’ (SSS).

I have been told once that people write more beautifully when they are sad or in pain. Over the weekend, I have been listening to Leave Your Lover and Lay Me Down which makes me wanna sulk in bed and cry my heart out. I am at awe with how powerful Sam Smith’s songs are in conveying the pain he was feeling when he wrote those words. All I felt was just raw emotion of sadness, as if I was the one who was left behind; as if I was the one who was inflicted with so much pain but still with so much love to give; as if I was the one who was never enough for someone to make him stay.

Maybe sadness really brings out the beauty in words. For some reason, almost everyone writes well when they pour their heart out and capture emotions they have felt for that moment through writing. Looking back, most of the things I have written in my blog is all about how I am lost, hurt, confused and everything else. I have realized that Yes, maybe I am also one of those who writes more when I am going through something that gives me emotions I cannot contain. The melancholic me has been “long gone and moved on,” as The Script puts it. But I cannot help but feel the emotions through these “hugot” songs which undeniably, fuel me to write.

And now I have thought, wouldn’t it be better if it is not just sadness that drives me to write? Life has been too good lately. Maybe that is why I have not been writing that much, because pain has been absent for a while now. So, this is me trying to turn things around through a pact that I will be writing more not because I am sad but because I wanna share how everything keeps on getting brighter each day. 🙂

To capturing the highs and the lows of life through words,

Kate
