A Love Like This

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

When it comes to matters of the heart, the verse above maybe one of the most popular. This verse is how Paul perfectly described God’s love as he tries to convince the followers of Christ that he is done persecuting them because he has decided to surrender his life and accept that Christ is indeed his savior. Despite killing people who profess their faith in Jesus thinking they are false believers, Paul was saved by the Lord through his grace. Paul is someone truly admirable. He has shown how love can change a person. He has shown how love transcends boundaries. He has shown how love can endure everything.

God created us in His likeness, giving us the capability to love the way He does. So it is just right to believe that there can be a love that will stay patient even if it takes time; a love that will be secured despite this world being proud and full of envy; a love that will be fruitful because it keeps no record of wrongs; a love that will protect your heart; a love that is built in trust; a love that is never giving up hope; and a love that persists.

I am asking myself, is the kind of love I am writing about superficial? I don’t think so. I know with the person meant for you, such love can exist. And I am sure we are capable of giving it as well because this is how our Father loved us.

For those who are waiting for a love like this, keep your heart still for the best is yet to come!

For those who feels like it is not this kind of love that they are experiencing, pray and talk to Him about it. He’s always there to listen.

For those who already has it, you are in for something that is built to last!

I always remind myself that God’s commandments to us revolves on love in different aspects. Indeed, it is really love that fulfills the law. May we keep in mind what Paul said..

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13
